Abstract
Based on the recognition of the difficulty of understanding the concept ousía, this reflection seeks to make explicit the senses that it acquires both in the Categories as in Metaphysics. The ultimate aim is to explain the apparent contradiction caused by the fact that in the Categories Aristotle says that the proté ousía is the individual (sýnolon) while in Metaphysics he says that it is the eîdos, is resolved to understand that the latter is not an abstract way but the principle of determination of the individual compound.
Keywords
Aristotle, Metaphysics, ousía, eîdos, sýnolon.
