In this paper we deal with two approaches to the environmental catastrophe: Anthropocene and Capitalocene. First, we establish a relation between nature over-exploitation and the modern concept of the disembodied subject, who conceives of nature as a resource. Then, we point to the term’s utility to emphasize the way human activity is responsible for climate change and global warming. In the third place, we point to the term’s limitations, sa it cannot make a distinction between different socio-economic and cultural contexts and their relation to nature. In the fourth part, we present Capitalocene’s main thesis, which claim than the argument about human responsibility for global warming removes the responsibility for these processes to very specific forms of exploitation, production, consumtion and disposal, to know, those of capitalism.
