Main Article Content
Abstract
Since the proposal at the Hannover Fair in 2011, of what is now known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a new technological paradigm has been unleashed, applicable mainly to production and services. Currently, its adoption and application in each of the sectors that drive the economy of each nation continue to be a challenge. For this reason, the objective of this work was to establish a reference framework for Industry 4.0 at an international level, as well as an approach to how this new technological revolution has manifested itself at an international level, with special emphasis on Mexico and the gradual introduction of information technologies and its transition towards Industry 4.0. For this purpose, a study is carried out on the subject in question, from its origins, evolution, and what has been done by governments to facilitate and enhance the implementation of its components. It must be emphasized that greater accessibility is required in terms of the information available by Mexican companies so that more specific data can be collected and analyzed on the scope and impact of implementing Industry 4.0 technologies in the same. After completing the investigation, it can be affirmed that digitization strategies, the provision of financial resources, and the development of human resources are still insufficient to promote the implementation of Industry 4.0 in Mexican companies quickly.
