Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the performance of the Mexican microfinance system: 2005-2015
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the evolution of the Mexican microfinance system and its financial and social performance, using both quantitative and qualitative variables. We considered eleven years. The sample consisted of 25 microfinance entities (MFIs), descriptive and correlational statistical tests were used.
The main finding was that most entities do not get attractive returns. Hence, having poor financial performance, mainly due to high operating costs, loan portfolio delinquency, low retention of customers, high employee turnover, phenomena associated with weak social efficiency. Which implies that they are entities with low competitiveness, the value of this research lies in the identification and application of both quantitative and qualitative performance indicators, concluding that high costs and expenses and weak social efficiency result in low profitability in these entities.
