Resumen
The integration of computer-aided design (CAD) with numerical simulation, is of great importance in the training of Mechatronic Engineers, since it becomes a key tool to bridge the gap between theory and practice. That is why this article presents a methodology that links SolidWorks and MATLAB/Simscape Multibody, allowing to export assemblies elaborated in CAD and relate them with respect to their position, as is the case of joints and constraints through Simulink. Through model captures, export menus and block diagrams, the complete workflow is illustrated: modelling of parts in SolidWorks, automatic generation of multibody twins, application of forces and torques, and dynamic visualization in three dimensions (3D). Additionally, the pedagogical benefits of this approach are described, such as active learning, team collaboration, and preparation for work in industry through rapid prototyping and 3D printing. Technical challenges - version compatibility, model complexity and unit handling - and lessons learned to optimize the process are discussed. The proposed methodology, without requiring quantitative experimental validation, provides an effective tool for teaching dynamic systems and control in academic environments, facilitating iterative design‑test‑improve cycles and reinforcing key engineering competencies.
