Abstract

In 2004, the transformation of the public transport concession in Mexico City began, in
which it is intended to replace transport’s units that date from the 1990s with modern
buses. The premises are the formalization of the sector and the creation of companies.
This represents a challenge for the concessionaires who did not notice the change, also
generating the need for human talent who knows the field of public transport and who can
adequately direct these new commercial organizations. Transport’s operators face
challenges that can be solved in several ways, from taking charge of the situation
themselves, to giving up equity stakes to receive support. This article focuses on
describing the problem of the necessary human resources and the way in which it can be
solved complementing the skills and competencies of the concessionaires, and that thehired professionals acquire the necessary knowledge for the transport company to be
successful.
