Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of digital transformation on e-commerce sales behavior in North America during the period 2019-2024. A descriptive and comparative documentary approach is employed, using secondary data from international sources such as DataReportal, Statista, ITU, and the World Bank. To support this work and comprehensively analyze the adoption, evolution, and maturation of e-commerce in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico during the period 2019-2024, this research is based on the TOE Model proposed by Tornatzky and Fleischer in 1990. The results show sustained growth in connectivity and online sales in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, with differences in digital maturity levels. Additionally, the findings highlight that digital transformation constitutes a key factor in the evolution of e-commerce and in the regional commercial dynamics. Finally, the results provide empirical evidence on the relationship between the digitalization of commercial practices and the increase in sales through e-commerce, contributing to the analysis of the current dynamics in economies of the same region.
