Abstract

In Mexico, more than 19 million young people belong to the so-called Millennial generation. Due to their age, some of them have just obtained their first job or are close to entering the labor market. This represents a challenge for employers, since it has been detected that in addition to the specific characteristics of this generation, this population sector has new demands, expectations and priorities for their future jobs.

Therefore, the objective of this research is to analyze the job expectations of young people of the Millennial generation, who, as they belong to the engineering area, are highly eligible for the industrial sector of the state. This problem was addressed with a quantitative, exploratory, descriptive, cross-sectional study, with a sample of 467 young people from five universities in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The main findings suggest that young people of this generation  appreciate doing something that they are passionate about, receiving constant training and that the company provides the possibility of growth.
