Abstract

Introduction: In late 2019, a new coronavirus was identified as causing pneumonia in a group of patients in the city of Wuhan, China. Little has been studied regarding the relationship between  SARS-CoV-2 and Acute Biliary Pancreatitis. This is the first case of Acute Biliary Pancreatitis reported in a patient with COVID-19 in our hospital center.

Method: A case of Acute Biliary Pancreatitis in a patient diagnosed with COVID-19 is described.

Results: A 44-year-old female admitted to the Emergency Department is diagnosed with Acute Biliary Pancreatitis. SARS-CoV-2 infection is confirmed by reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).

Conclusions: This is the first case of Acute Biliary Pancreatitis that coexists concomitantly with COVID-19 reported in the literature up to the time of writing this publication. It is necessary to keep a record of pancreatic activity in patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and follow-up in convalescent patients, since the course of both pathologies can be affected by the coexistence of the other.
