Bioethics as training and facilitator of the influence of Catholic actors in the public space in Argentina
Main Article Content
Abstract
My intention in this paper is to analyze certain actions that are being conducted by some catholic religious agents in order to prevent women from accessing to sexual but mainly, reproductive Rights. The starting point of this study is the analysis of a training course in bioethics and lobby action in the Buenos Aires’ Parliament. This will help us to understand the relationship between the church and the state. Moreover, using data of recent surveys, I illustrate the existing tension between the ecclesiastical hierarchies’ commands and the reproductive and sexual practices of catholic women. My purpose is to present the existing heterogeneity among Catholicism in these matters and analyze its expression in the Public Sphere
